The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we're entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we've distributed over $2 million to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
I have seen Japanese phans at shows ever since 2000. Maybe not every show, but definitely every tour. Many struggle with English, but not with navigating tour and making quick friends on the road. I can't even imagine coming to a foreign country, not knowing the language or even alphabet, and trying to follow a band around the country. Truly an accomplishment on its own. Satoshi also shows us that everyone's experience and peak moments happen at different times and reasons. On the other hand, most of us lose our balls at some point!
