MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 428

Welcome to the 428th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the first and easiest of August. The winner will receive two MP3 download codes courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery clip. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Stay safe!

*Reminder: For the first MJM of each month, only folks who have never won an MJM are allowed to answer before the hint. If you have never won an MJM, please answer as a blog comment below. If you have previously won an MJM, but you'd like to submit a guess before the hint, you may do so by PMing me; once the hint has been posted, everyone should answer on the blog. If that's confusing to you, check out the handy decision tree that I threw together for you. If you're not sure if you've won before, check in the MJM Results spreadsheet linked below.

Answer: Congrats to @Pinhead_Larry on his first MJM win! This week was certainly a well-known jam, having been selected for Live Bait Vol. 7 taboot, but I couldn't help myself on its anniversary. For his identifcation of the 8/3/98 "Gumbo," he's won two LivePhish codes. Next week things will get a little more difficult - see you then?

Pinhead_Larry Hey I actually know this one! 8/3/98 Gumbo. This section is one of my favorite moments of live Phish from summer '98.

Pinhead_Larry 22 years to the day. Didn't even know today was already the 3rd.

HarborSeal It's so laid back, and without any audible crowd noise, I was thinking this was a soundcheck jam. Nice get, @pinhead_larry.

Ditto! This would've been the first MJM I actually knew. One of my top 3 jams.

Doktahgonzo Ugh, I was slow to hop onto this one as well. I could have had my first finally as well.

Chicken_Sub_In_Your_Hand Anyone who digs this jam should peep 8/13/97 Gumbo as well

Indeed. In attendance for that one. One of, if not THE first truly jammed out Gumbo?

Check out 8.15.98 Gumbo for the funk groove as well.

It's my #1 jam to listen to. For me, 8/13/97 is the GOAT (and I've listened to most of em)!

7/3/99 is also a big winner.
