JAM OF THE ERA

Following the completion of the 2019 edition of the annual Jam of the Year (JOTY) tournament, forum regular @Ry_storm proposed a larger-scale Jam of the Era tournament for all of 3.0 (so far) to keep everyone listening while many of us are stuck at home or otherwise out of our regular routines.

Seeding was done through an open call to forum users to rank up to 64 unique versions of songs since 2009. 238 different selections were made through dozens of submissions.

From the compiled rankings, the top 64 were placed in a single-elimination bracket with regions named after the four albums released since 2009. Whether you vote on them or not, fortunately for all of us @serpent_deflector has compiled a phish.in playlist for all 64!

Here’s how voting works: Each week, votes are cast in weekly forum threads (Week 1) for four matchups. Voting opens every Thursday at 10am EDT and closes the next Thursday at 9am EDT. In order to vote, paste the matchups included in each week’s original post (OP) in a comment, and put your picks in boldface.

Needless to say, the threads are not only where you place your vote, there is discourse galore -- and naturally, occasional melts -- about the decision-making process as well as handy LivePhish+ playlists. So, hurry up and catch up on the listening because week 1 voting is already underway...

If you liked this blog post, one way you could "like" it is to make a donation to The Mockingbird Foundation, the sponsor of Phish.net. Support music education for children, and you just might change the world.

Jiegel Super fun. Got LP+ playlists for the other brackets? (That's just the Joy bracket you've linked above). Thank you!

Edit: that’s for the entire field. I don’t think separate playlists for the other brackets have been completed yet.

TwiceBitten So it's officially 4.0 then...

Laudanum A little light on '13 and '14, I think. Not sure how '12 gets more entries than either of those two years.

Why are there 65 songs instead of 64? is there a play-in for the 64 slot?

Uakari Why?

Really does everything “need” to be rated.

You just can’t enjoy it at the show?
You need to justify you were there?
You want to prove you saw the best?
You have the only ears that matter?
You think Trey reads this?
Your ego?

DoubleM Albany Seven Below getting a completely tough draw there. Any other seeding and that guy is going to the Elite 8
